A quick and easy pot of chili for a cold winter day
Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 1 large can crushed tomato
  • 1 large can diced tomato
  • 1 pkg. chili seasoning
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can pinto beans
  • 1 can kidney beans
Instructions
  1. Put your slow cooker on high and add the diced tomato, crushed tomato, and the three cans of beans. Note: Add the entire can (do not rinse the beans). The liquid with the beans adds flavor and liquid. Add the package of chili seasoning to that and mix well.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the beef and pork. Dice the pepper and onion and add those to the browning meat. Cook until the meat is browned thoroughly. Drain the grease and add to the slow cooker.
  3. Mix the meat into the sauce in the slow cooker.
  4. Cook on high for 2 hours, then low for at least another hour. After that, you can leave it on low until you are ready to eat.
Notes
The two pounds of ground meat can vary. The best flavor is mixing pork and beef, but ground turkey can be used, or all ground beef or pork. Any combination works! Note that the nutritional summary is based on this particular recipe, so changing the meat may have some effect on the values presented here.

Serving Suggestions:

Any/all of the following can be added to a bowl of chili: Crushed tortilla chips, chopped green onions, crackers, croutons, and cheese (grated, all types).
