I had a fun time in California this past week. Here are some pictures from the trip (captions describe each picture):
On the way back to LAX, I made a detour and visited La Canada (now called La Canada Flintridge) for the first time in decades. I think the most striking thing I found was how all of the trees in town were 50 years older than when we lived there! La Canada Flintridge is now the 17th most affluent community in the United States. The median price of a home there is over 1.3 million dollars. The high school is still excellent, having been named the top high school in California several years ago. Foothill Blvd, the main drag in town, has completely changed. It’s now a 2-mile long strip of high end botique stores. The high school looked about the same, still a quarter mile from JPL and across the street from Oak Grove Park, and a nice campus, although there are more buildings than there used to be.
